What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization?
SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. Simply, SEO is the process of improving your website position and appearance to increase its visibility when people search for products or services related to your business in Google, Bing, or other search engines. SEO improves your web pages in the organic search results. Because organic search is the eminent way for people to discover online content and to access it.
WHY is SEO important
A good SEO strategy is essential for improving the quality as well as quantity of your website traffic through Organic Search.
To Understand it well let’s breakdown our SEO definition into three parts:
Organic Search Results: Organic Search results are nothing but the unpaid ranking of your website. As discussed above, Organic search results are the eminent way for people to discover online content and to access it. When someone searches anything on Google, then the top results are the Organic results only (if there is no ad on that topic). If there is ad on that searched term, so top 1 or 2 results are paid search results and the other will be organic search results, and most people go to Organic Results only. Rarely do people click on the advertised search. So topping the Search Engine Organic Page requires a Good SEO strategy.
Quality of Organic Traffic: The quality of Organic Traffic is nothing but how relevant is the user query to the content of your website. Suppose if someone search about let says iPhone, then if your website has the details about iPhone or you sell iPhone then search engine in our case google tells users that xyz website has details about iPhone. Here SEO comes into play, a good SEO content will be on top of other websites. High-Quality organic Traffic includes visitors who want to know about the searched term to gather information or might be they purchase the product.
Quantity of Organic Traffic: The number of visitors visits your website from their search query, the more likely you will convert them into sales or services. So, to top the SERP( Search Engine Results Page) is of utmost importance to have more visitors, because usually users will click the top 3 results shown by Google.
How does SEO work?
Search Engines like Google or Bing, use Software algorithms called bots or spiders, they crawl each and every line of the content of websites listed. These bots are nothing but like a librarian who knows each and every book in the library, when someone asks the librarian about any book or any topic related book, then the librarian instantly tell you that, so and so book or in so and so racks you will find the required topics books. Likewise, Search engines crawl each and every website’s content. When a user searched any topic then this librarian (i.e.,) Search Engine will show them the websites with the content related to the searched query.
The Search Engine takes up the whole work of going from site to site, collecting information about those pages, and putting them in an index to help you find exactly what you’re looking for at the time. Taking into account hundreds of ranking factors or signals, the librarian has read every single book in the library and can tell you exactly which one will have the answers to your questions. It’s how search bots estimate exactly how well a website or web page can give the searcher what they’re searching for.
